Azerbaijan Airlines Buta Airways

In an exciting development for aviation enthusiasts, Azerbaijan Airlines and its low-cost subsidiary, Buta Airways, are set to merge and operate under the single brand, AZAL. The anticipated merger is scheduled for October 2023 and aims to combine the “best qualities of both airlines.”

The merging carriers assure passengers that the new AZAL will maintain the “current affordable prices” of Buta Airways flights while elevating the level of service. AZAL aims to enhance customer experience, making it easier for travelers to plan their journeys with increased service quality.

Notably, AZAL will introduce the ‘Buta Budget’ fare on all flights, which will offer a luggage-free option, ensuring accessibility for every passenger. However, hand luggage will still be included in all other fares, and baggage allowances will be increased for these options.

For seamless travel arrangements, passengers will be able to book flights on the single AZAL website, where they will also receive updates on pricing details.

At present, Azerbaijan Airlines boasts an active fleet of 26 aircraft, including seven Embraer ERJ-190s and five Airbus A320-200 jets. Meanwhile, Buta Airways operates six active Embraer ERJ-190s.

This merger is expected to create more travel opportunities at affordable rates, making air transportation convenient and accessible for passengers across the board.
