Azorra eyes Embraer freighter conversions

Florida-based lessor Azorra has expressed interest in Embraer freighter conversions.

Azorra announced on June 27 that it has signed purchase agreements for the acquisition of 11 Embraer E-Jets aircraft leased to four airlines.

“This acquisition further diversifies our growing portfolio and is weighted towards E195s, where we see healthy near-term demand and longer-term potential for freighter conversions” said John Evans, Azorra’s chief executive.

All 11 aircraft were formerly owned by Nordic Aviation Capital and are in addition to the recently completed purchase of a 37 aircraft portfolio.

Upon closing, Azorra will own and manage 71 aircraft on lease to 19 airlines in 15 countries.

Azorra also has commitments to purchase 49 additional aircraft and spare engines including 42 new Airbus A220/ACJ220 and Embraer E2 aircraft.

Brazil-based Embraer said on June 24 that it has signed a firm order for up to 10 Embraer E-Jets Passenger to Freighter (P2F) conversions with an undisclosed customer.

This is the first firm contract for Embraer’s P2F after an agreement in principle in May with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) for up to 10 conversion slots for E190F/E195F.

Embraer launched a programme to convert pre-owned E190s and E195s from passenger jets to freighters in March.
