Bahia Principe Unveils $117M Renovation Plan for 2026

Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts is setting an ambitious course for 2026 with a $117 million investment plan focused on large-scale renovations, brand repositioning and enhanced guest experiences across its global portfolio. The initiative marks the second year of the company’s strategic alliance with Hyatt and reflects a broader push to elevate product quality while expanding international reach.
The investment will support extensive upgrades at resorts in key leisure markets including Spain, Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. Among the headline projects for 2026 is a comprehensive renovation of Bahía Príncipe Costa Adeje in Tenerife, aimed at modernizing the property and reinforcing its positioning in the Canary Islands’ premium resort segment.
In Mexico, Bahía Príncipe Luxury Akumal in Riviera Maya will undergo a complete remodeling of 232 guestrooms, while Bahía Príncipe Grand Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic will see significant improvements to 358 guestrooms alongside upgrades to public spaces. In the Caribbean, full renovation programs are also planned for Bahía Príncipe Grand Jamaica and Bahía Príncipe Luxury Runaway Bay, underscoring the brand’s continued commitment to its core all-inclusive destinations.
A key development within the alliance is the planned integration of Cayo Levantado Resort into The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. The 218-room resort, located on its own private island in Samaná Bay, will continue operating under its existing name and concept while gaining access to Hyatt’s global distribution and loyalty ecosystem, expanding its visibility in international markets.
Javier Águila, global president of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, said the success of the joint venture is rooted in strong cultural alignment between the two organizations. He noted that the first year of collaboration enabled a meaningful exchange of knowledge and best practices, confirming the strategic fit between Bahia Principe and Hyatt’s broader Inclusive Collection portfolio.
The alliance gained momentum in 2025 with the reopening of Bahía Príncipe Luxury Tenerife as an adults-only resort following a full repositioning, as well as the debut of Bahía Príncipe Grand Tequila, a new adults-only property in Riviera Maya.
Julio Pérez, CEO of Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, said the company is focused on evolving its product while remaining true to its brand identity. He emphasized that the first year of the Hyatt partnership established a solid operational foundation, paving the way for enhanced guest experiences and future growth opportunities across the Caribbean, Europe and potentially new global destinations.
