Bahrain’s Valo Aviation Secures AOC as First Bizjet Charter Specialist

Valo Aviation has become Bahrain’s first dedicated business jet charter operator after securing an air operator’s certificate (AOC). The milestone was announced during the Bahrain International Airshow 2024, marking a significant development in the country’s private aviation sector.
The company’s initial operations will focus on chartering aircraft on behalf of owners, starting with a Kuwaiti-owned Gulfstream G550, registered as A9C-BSG (msn 5408). Valo aims to expand its managed fleet to 15 aircraft within two years.
CEO Hanna Hakamo highlighted the challenges of obtaining the AOC, which took approximately two years due to procedures primarily designed for scheduled airlines. “Bahrain is woefully underserved by business jet operators,” she said, emphasizing the region’s need for dedicated private aviation services.
Valo Aviation plans to complement its charter operations with a full suite of services, including aircraft sales, management, maintenance, and flight operations support. The company is constructing a hangar at Bahrain International Airport, which will enable it to provide comprehensive services.
Additionally, Valo is applying for Air Navigation Technical Regulations (ANTR) 145 certification, equivalent to EASA/FAA Part-145 approval, to enhance its maintenance capabilities.
With its AOC and ambitious plans, Valo Aviation is set to transform Bahrain’s private aviation landscape, catering to the growing demand for business jet services in the region.
