Barrick Gold Orders Dash 8-400 to Support Pakistan Mining Ops

Barrick Gold Corporation has placed an order for one DHC-8-Q400 aircraft to support its mining operations in Balochistan, Pakistan. The order was confirmed on June 16 and will serve the company’s Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC), a major copper and gold project in the region.
According to Barrick’s director of aviation, John Henderson, the Dash 8-400 will provide reliable and efficient transport for personnel and equipment. “Having the Dash 8-400 as part of our fleet ensures safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for our personnel and equipment,” he said.
The delivery schedule for the aircraft has not been disclosed.
The Dash 8-400 is a versatile turboprop aircraft known for its ability to operate in challenging environments, making it suitable for remote mining locations like Reko Diq. It offers high performance, short runway capabilities, and fuel efficiency, aligning with Barrick’s operational needs in rugged terrain.
Barrick Gold currently operates two private jets in Canada—a Gulfstream V (GV) and a Gulfstream G550—both used for executive travel. According to the ch-aviation Commercial Aviation Aircraft Data module, this order represents the company’s first DHC-8-Q400, though it manages multiple aircraft globally across its mining operations.
The addition of the Dash 8-400 signals Barrick Gold’s commitment to supporting its international mining logistics through tailored aviation solutions. The aircraft will enhance regional connectivity and logistics efficiency in one of the company’s key development projects.
