Beond Expands Fleet with Second Airbus A321 for Growth
Luxury airline Beond has officially added its second aircraft, an Airbus A321, to its fleet, marking a significant milestone for the Maldives-based carrier. Delivered in February 2024, the aircraft has undergone a comprehensive cabin refit, transforming it into an all-business class jet featuring 68 seats. It has also been painted in Beond’s distinctive dark grey livery, accented with spherical copper patterns, further distinguishing the airline’s premium service.
The addition of this A321 significantly increases Beond’s capacity, as the airline had previously operated only a single Airbus A319 with 44 seats. The expanded fleet will not only support the airline’s growing demand but also facilitate the introduction of new routes.
One of the key upcoming routes will be from Male (MLE) to Bangkok (BKK). In May 2024, Beond’s founder and CEO, Tero Taskila, confirmed that the airline is preparing to launch this new service to the Thai capital, further expanding its luxury travel offerings.
As of September 2024, Beond operates flights between Male and several international destinations, including Riyadh (RUH), Dubai (DWC), Milan Malpensa (MXP), and Zurich (ZRH). The Zurich and Milan routes are operated via Dubai, with Fifth Freedom services available between Dubai and Zurich, allowing passengers to travel between those two cities. Additionally, Beond plans to reintroduce flights to Munich (MUC) for the winter 2024/25 season, which aligns with peak tourism in the Maldives. The Munich route had been temporarily suspended earlier in 2024.
The second Airbus A321 has already been put to use for charter services. On September 4, 2024, the aircraft was deployed to transport the Norwegian national football team to Almaty (ALA), Kazakhstan, for a UEFA Nations League 2025 qualifier game.
Beond’s expansion with its second aircraft reflects the airline’s commitment to growing its premium, all-business class services. With increased capacity and the ability to serve more destinations, Beond is positioning itself as a leading luxury carrier, catering to discerning travelers seeking exclusive and high-end travel experiences.
