BermudAir Shifts Strategy, Introduces Dual-Class Seating on Bermuda-US Flights

BermudAir, the startup carrier operating between Bermuda and the United States, has swiftly changed its business model, shifting from an exclusive business-class offering to a dual-class seating arrangement. The decision comes after just six weeks of operations and reflects a strategic adjustment based on preliminary consumer feedback and evolving market dynamics.

The airline, founded and led by CEO Adam Scott, initially launched on September 1, 2023, with a focus on premium, business-class-only flights connecting Bermuda L.F. Wade International Airport to destinations such as Boston, Fort Lauderdale International, and White Plains. However, BermudAir has now responded to consumer demand and the need for increased flexibility by incorporating economy-class seating on all its flights, starting in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Adam Scott expressed the airline’s commitment to meeting passenger preferences, stating, “After nearly 170 successful flights, it’s clear that there is strong demand for direct, short-haul, and premium flights between Bermuda and the [US] East Coast.” While the initial feedback from passengers was positive, the decision to introduce dual-class seating aligns with the desire for more options.

BermudAir currently operates with two leased E175STDs from Azorra Aviation. The original plan included a unique “aisle class” configuration, offering business class with every seat having both aisle and window access. The shift to dual-class seating demonstrates the airline’s responsiveness to customer preferences and the dynamic nature of the market.

The adjustment positions BermudAir to cater to a broader range of travelers, providing options for both premium and economy-class passengers. As the airline continues to navigate the evolving landscape, this strategic shift aims to enhance customer satisfaction and adapt to the diverse needs of the Bermuda-US travel market.
