Beta Technologies Expands Electric Aircraft Charging Network to Three Florida Airports

Beta Technologies has officially launched new electric aircraft charging stations at three key Florida airports, enhancing infrastructure for eco-friendly aviation. The new universal chargers, capable of powering a range of electric aircraft and ground vehicles, have been installed at Tallahassee International Airport, Gainesville Regional Airport, and Bob Sikes Airport in Crestview.

The initiative was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting event at Tallahassee International Airport on September 18, 2024, in collaboration with Million Air FBO. David Pollard, Director of Aviation for the City of Tallahassee, highlighted the significant economic impact of the airport, which contributes approximately $1 billion annually to the local economy. He expressed enthusiasm for the role the new charging facilities will play in expanding the airport’s influence.

This development follows the earlier installation of a Beta charger at Eglin Air Force Base and marks Beta’s continued efforts to build a comprehensive charging network across the United States. Currently, the network includes 32 active sites, with plans to establish at least 50 more, including an upcoming station at Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport.

The installations feature both airside Level 3 DC fast chargers for aircraft and ground support vehicles, and groundside Level 2 chargers for electric cars and buses. This expansion is supported by one of Beta’s government contracts and aligns with the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) vision to lead in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) services, catering to Florida’s growing population and tourism sector.

In addition to infrastructure developments, Beta is actively working on electric aircraft, including a small airplane and an eVTOL aircraft designed for passenger and cargo operations, with United Therapeutics as a launch customer for transporting human organs for transplant.
