BlackRock raises Atlas Air Worldwide shareholding
Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings is now 14.2% owned by Blackrock Investment Management, which raised its shareholding in the company and now holds 3,910,892 shares, BlackRock disclosed in an SEC filing on January 26. The American investment management giant had already been the Atlas Air (5Y, New York JFK) parent’s biggest institutional investor, and its 14.2% stake was effective as of December 31, 2020, according to the disclosure. In a previous filing, dated February 4, 2020, BlackRock had reported owning 3,819,320 shares, so the latest move indicates an increase of 2.4%. However, although the number of shares it holds in the cargo specialist has risen by over 91,500, the stake that this represents in fact fell slightly, from 14.8% to 14.2%, Cargo Facts reported. This was mostly as a result of an issuance Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings conducted in October 2020 of almost 1.4 million shares to Amazon.com, after the online retail giant exercised part of its warrant.
