BOC Aviation has finalized an agreement to purchase three Airbus aircraft for lease to Chilean low-cost carrier JetSMART, strengthening the airline’s fleet growth plans. The order includes two Airbus A321neo and one A320neo, all powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, with deliveries scheduled for 2027.

The new deal underscores JetSMART’s aggressive expansion strategy as it works toward a target of operating 120 aircraft by 2031. CEO Estuardo Ortiz said the additional jets will provide vital capacity to support network growth across South America, where demand for affordable air travel continues to rise.

JetSMART, an ultra-low-cost carrier backed by Indigo Partners, currently operates a fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft from bases in Chile, Argentina, and Peru. The airline has steadily expanded its footprint since its launch in 2017, with new routes connecting secondary cities and underserved markets across the region.

For BOC Aviation, one of the world’s largest aircraft lessors, the deal reinforces its long-standing relationship with JetSMART and commitment to supporting growth in emerging markets. The lessor’s portfolio includes more than 600 aircraft placed with airlines globally, and it has been actively investing in next-generation fuel-efficient jets such as the Airbus A320neo family.

The addition of these new aircraft will help JetSMART maintain cost efficiency while meeting sustainability goals through reduced fuel burn and lower emissions. The partnership between BOC Aviation and JetSMART highlights continued confidence in the low-cost travel model and in South America’s long-term aviation potential.
