Boeing has released its fourth annual Chief Aerospace Safety Officer (CASO) Report, highlighting progress in safety culture, operational practices, and collaboration with global aviation stakeholders. The 2025 safety report reflects the company’s continued efforts to strengthen its commitment to aviation safety and rebuild trust following past crises.

The report outlines key initiatives focused on enhancing Boeing’s Safety Management System (SMS), integrating data-driven decision-making, and reinforcing employee empowerment through the expanded Speak Up program. Submissions to the program—designed to capture safety, quality, and compliance concerns—rose significantly, signaling increased transparency and internal accountability.

Don Ruhmann, Boeing’s Chief Aerospace Safety Officer, stated, “Safety is at the core of everything we do. Continuous learning drives improvements that protect human lives.”

Boeing has also more than doubled participation in its SMS Champions Program, growing to over 1,000 employees across teams and facilities. The initiative supports the daily integration of safety principles and encourages cross-functional advocacy of safety-first practices.

Key advancements outlined in the 2025 Boeing safety report include the adoption of Design Build Safety reviews, improved alignment between engineering and production, and the use of machine learning to identify hazards within the supply chain. These enhancements aim to proactively address safety risks before they escalate.

In response to the 737 MAX tragedies of 2018 and 2019, Boeing submitted a comprehensive safety action plan to the FAA addressing recommendations from a Congressionally appointed expert panel. The company also emphasized its industry leadership through the third annual Boeing Aviation Safety Conference, attended by 300 airline operators and safety experts.

Through transparent reporting, employee engagement, and strategic safety improvements, Boeing is working to ensure that past failures are not repeated. The 2025 CASO report represents a renewed commitment to putting safety, trust, and integrity at the forefront of its global operations.
