Boeing Hits Highest August Aircraft Deliveries Since 2018

Boeing’s commercial aircraft deliveries in August 2025 reached their highest level for that month since 2018, signaling improved production rates and more stable factory operations. The U.S. planemaker delivered 57 jets in August—its best August performance in seven years—surpassing its full-year 2024 total of 348 aircraft by the end of the month.
Key highlights from Boeing’s August 2025 report:
- Total deliveries: 57 commercial aircraft.
- Best August since 2018: Boeing last achieved higher monthly deliveries in August 2018, when it delivered 64 airliners.
- Year-to-date performance: As of August 31, 2025, Boeing had delivered 385 jets, already exceeding its entire 2024 total of 348.
- Aircraft mix: The month’s deliveries included 42 737 MAX jets and 14 wide-body aircraft, among them nine 787 Dreamliners.
- Deliveries to China: Chinese carriers received nine jets after a prolonged freeze linked to tariff disputes.
Despite the milestone in August, Boeing is still constrained by regulatory limits and is losing ground to Airbus in several key metrics. The FAA has maintained a 38-jets-per-month production cap on the Boeing 737 MAX family since early 2024, imposed following serious safety lapses, including a midair door-plug detachment incident.Boeing has expressed plans to raise output to 42 MAX jets per month, and ultimately higher, but FAA approval has not yet been granted.
Meanwhile, Airbus delivered 61 aircraft in August 2025, bringing its year-to-date total to 434 jets, compared to Boeing’s 385 during the same period—showing that Airbus continues to lead in overall deliveries. The result is that, despite Boeing’s best August since 2018, it faces both regulatory and competitive headwinds if it hopes to catch Airbus in full-year delivery numbers.
