Boeing’s Departing CEO Dave Calhoun Declines Re-election to Caterpillar Board

Dave Calhoun, the outgoing Chief Executive Officer of Boeing, has decided not to seek re-election to the board of Caterpillar during the 2024 annual shareholders meeting, according to a regulatory filing by the construction and mining equipment giant. Caterpillar confirmed that Calhoun’s decision is not due to any disputes or disagreements with the company.

This announcement comes shortly after Calhoun revealed his intention to resign from his position at Boeing by the end of the current year. Boeing, a leading aerospace manufacturer, is once again under scrutiny from regulators following an incident in January 2024 where a panel detached from a 737-9 aircraft during flight. Calhoun’s departure and decision against standing for re-election at Caterpillar underscore a period of transition and regulatory challenges for Boeing.
