Bombardier launches new Global 8000 business jet with more range and speed
Bombardier is developing a new business jet, which it says will be “the world’s fastest and longest-range purpose-built business jet”
The Canadian manufacturer said the Global 8000 will have a range of 8,000 nautical miles (14,800 kilometers) and a top speed of Mach 0.94. The jet is currently in development and due to enter into service in 2025, Bombardier said on May 23, 2022, during the EBACE business aviation conference.
“Today, Bombardier solidifies once more its position as the leader in business aviation with the newest member of the industry-leading Global family,” said Eric Martel, Bombardier’s President and CEO in a statement. “The Global 8000 aircraft leverages the outstanding attributes of the Global 7500 aircraft, providing our customers with a flagship aircraft of a new era.”
Bombardier said it had already tested some of the performance capabilities of the new jet during a demonstration flight with a Global 7500 test vehicle in May 2021. During that flight, the aircraft achieved speeds in excess of Mach 1.015, thus becoming the fastest business jet in the world and the fastest in commercial aviation since Concorde, the manufacturer said. It also flew supersonic using sustainable aviation fuel, Bombardier noted.
The manufacturer said the performance and range of the new Global 8000 means it can reach more destinations in a shorter time than before, such as Dubai-Houston, Singapore-Los Angeles, London-Perth.
The Global 8000 is a four-zone cabin business jet. A principle suite is available with a full-size bed and stand-up shower in the en-suite bathroom. The cabin altitude can be kept at 2,900 feet, even when flying at 41,000 ft.
