Brasil Central Linhas Aéreas Expands Fleet with Two New Jets

Share

Brasil Central Linhas Aéreas (São Paulo Congonhas) has expanded its fleet with the recent delivery of two new light jets: a Learjet 45XR and an Astra SPX. According to ch-aviation research, the addition of these aircraft signals a strategic move for the airline, although neither jet is yet authorized for commercial operations in Brazil.

The Learjet 45XR, registered as PS-BMV (msn 45-160), was ferried from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport via Fort de France and Manaus International to the airline’s base in Goiania, with the journey taking place between September 16-19, 2024. The 22.1-year-old aircraft, previously operated privately in the United States, was officially registered in Brazil on October 1, 2024.

Alongside the Learjet, Brasil Central also took delivery of an Astra SPX, registered PS-MSA (msn 145). This aircraft was ferried from Manassas, Virginia, to Goiania via Fort Lauderdale Executive and Manaus, completing its delivery journey from October 1-2. The Astra SPX was registered in Brazil on October 11, 2024, and, like the Learjet, had previously been operated privately in the United States.

Despite the arrival of these two new aircraft, they are not yet authorized for commercial service in Brazil, and Brasil Vida Taxi Aéreo, the operating entity under Brasil Central, has not specified when these aircraft will be cleared for passenger or cargo operations. Brasil Vida Taxi Aéreo’s Operating Specifications currently do not include either the Learjet 45XR or the Astra SPX.

Brasil Vida Taxi Aéreo, known for its specialization in air ambulance and medevac operations, operates a diverse fleet that includes five Beech King Air B200s, five Beech C90As, two Piper PA-31s, two Piper PA-42s, two Cessna C210s, a Citation Jet, two Citation Vs, one Westwind 1124, one Westwind 1124A, four Learjet 31As, and one Learjet 35A. The addition of the Learjet 45XR and Astra SPX indicates an expansion of the operator’s aircraft portfolio, potentially strengthening its capacity for specialized air services.

The airline has yet to respond to inquiries regarding when the two new jets will be ready for commercial service. However, their addition to Brasil Central’s fleet highlights the operator’s ongoing growth and commitment to providing a range of air services, particularly in the fields of air ambulance and medevac operations, where light jets are increasingly in demand.

As Brasil Central moves forward with the integration of these aircraft, it will be crucial to monitor regulatory approvals and commercial availability for the expanded fleet, which could play a key role in enhancing the airline’s service offerings across Brazil.
