Breeze Airways Expands to Burbank as Avelo Exits Market

Breeze Airways is set to expand its West Coast operations in 2026, taking advantage of Avelo Airlines’ exit from Hollywood Burbank Airport. The Utah-based low-cost carrier will launch several new routes from Burbank, starting in March 2026, marking its debut at the California airport.

Breeze will operate three weekly flights from Burbank to Arcata/Eureka and Provo, and twice-weekly flights to Eugene, Pasco, and Redmond. The airline is also expanding service at its Provo hub, adding routes to Burbank, Arcata, Eugene, Las Vegas, Pasco, and Redmond beginning in the same month.

The expansion announcement comes just days after Avelo Airlines revealed it will cease operations at Burbank by the end of 2025, citing ongoing financial challenges and mounting criticism over its involvement in government deportation flights. Avelo’s departure creates an opportunity for Breeze to establish a stronger presence in underserved regional markets.

“We have long been monitoring opportunities to expand our network on the West Coast and hope the news will be a welcome reprieve for travelers in these communities,” said Lukas Johnson, Breeze Airways’ chief commercial officer.

Founded in 2021 by JetBlue founder David Neeleman, Breeze Airways continues to grow its footprint with a focus on low-cost, nonstop flights between secondary cities. The airline’s entry into Burbank aligns with its strategy to serve routes that lack direct competition and offer travelers more convenient options across the U.S. West.
