Breeze Airways to Launch New Base at Akron Regional in 2025

Breeze Airways (MX, Salt Lake City) is set to expand its footprint by establishing a new base at Akron/Canton Regional Airport (CAK) during the summer of 2025. The airline plans to station aircraft overnight at CAK as part of its growth strategy, with the new hub expected to employ at least 61 pilots, cabin crew, and maintenance personnel.
The rollout will begin with the first aircraft arriving in June 2025, followed by a second in the autumn, and a third joining the base in 2026. This strategic move comes as Breeze Airways continues to expand its network and fleet, which currently consists of 49 aircraft, including thirty-six A220-300s, ten E190s, and three E195s.
According to ch-aviation data, Breeze Airways already operates flights from Akron Regional to major destinations such as Charleston International, Fort Myers Southwest Florida, Hartford Bradley, Las Vegas Harry Reid, Orlando International, Raleigh/Durham, Sarasota/Bradenton, and Tampa International. The airline currently accounts for 25.7% of the flight frequencies and 34.8% of the seat capacity at CAK—trailing only American Airlines in frequency (35.1%) but leading in seat capacity compared to both Allegiant Air (29.6%) and American Airlines (24.8%).
With ten bases currently operating across the United States, Breeze Airways aims to double its base count to over 20 as it continues to grow its fleet and network. Chief Commercial Officer Lukas Johnson previously highlighted this expansion plan to ch-aviation, underscoring the carrier’s commitment to tapping into regional markets and building a robust operational foundation for future growth.
The new Akron base not only supports the airline’s expansion efforts but also positions Breeze Airways to capture additional market share in the competitive regional aviation sector. By leveraging overnight aircraft deployments, Breeze Airways expects to improve operational efficiency, enhance connectivity, and provide more flexible scheduling for its passengers.
As Breeze Airways continues to scale up operations, the establishment of the new base at Akron Regional is a clear indicator of its strategic vision to serve both established and emerging markets across the United States. With ongoing investments in fleet modernization and network expansion, Breeze Airways is well on its way to redefining regional air travel with a focus on efficiency, connectivity, and customer service.
