Brisbane Airport Aims for Full International Capacity Recovery by 2024
Brisbane Airport (BNE) is steadily recovering its international capacity following the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The airport has recently announced several new and expanded flights to key global markets in response to growing travel demand in South East Queensland.
The airport has reported that its system capacity has now reached 84% of pre-pandemic levels. This comprises domestic recovery at 91% and international recovery at 75%. The airport anticipates achieving a complete recovery to 100% of 2019 levels by 2024, contingent on the normalization of seat supply and aircraft deliveries.
New Routes and Partnerships:
- Jetstar has entered into an agreement with Brisbane Airport, with plans to introduce new routes from BNE to Osaka and Seoul in February 2024. Additionally, Jetstar will relocate its Tokyo flight from the Gold Coast to Brisbane in October 2023.
- China Southern is resuming its service from Guangzhou to Brisbane from November 2023, reestablishing a vital connection between Brisbane and its primary source of tourism spending before the pandemic.
