British Airways Adds Rabat, Graz, and Madrid Flights

British Airways is expanding its European network with three new short-haul routes set to launch later in 2025. The airline will introduce flights from London-Gatwick to Rabat in Morocco and Graz in Austria, operated by its subsidiary BA Euroflyer, and from London-City Airport to Madrid, operated by BA Cityflyer. The move is part of the carrier’s strategy to strengthen regional connectivity and tap into growing demand for cultural and city-break destinations.

The new route to Rabat-Sale Airport in Morocco will begin on November 5, 2025, with flights operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays using Airbus A320 aircraft. Rabat will become British Airways’ third Moroccan destination, joining Marrakech and Agadir. Morocco has seen a surge in tourism, with a record-breaking increase of 1.3 million visitors compared to the previous year. The UK is a key contributor to this growth, and British Airways is positioning itself to meet the demand. The Moroccan National Tourist Office welcomed the move, citing strong diplomatic and cultural ties between the two countries.

Graz, the second new destination, marks a notable addition to British Airways’ Austrian offerings, which already include Vienna, Salzburg, and Innsbruck. The service from London-Gatwick will launch on November 21, 2025, operating three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Graz is not currently served by direct flights from London, making British Airways the only carrier to provide nonstop service. Known for its UNESCO-listed old town, vibrant arts scene, and festive Christmas markets, Graz is expected to appeal to leisure travellers year-round.

Meanwhile, the new Madrid route will connect London-City Airport to Spain’s capital with 11 weekly flights, offering more seamless links to Iberia’s long-haul network in South America. This includes connections to cities such as Bogotá, Montevideo, and Lima. The addition complements British Airways’ existing service between Madrid and London-Heathrow and is designed to provide greater flexibility for business and leisure travellers alike. The convenient flight schedule supports same-day returns and optimized connections.

BA Euroflyer operates from London-Gatwick with a fleet of 25 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, serving over 40 destinations across Europe. Its sister subsidiary, BA Cityflyer, flies from London-City Airport with a fleet of 21 Embraer 190 jets, primarily targeting business and short-break travellers.

These new routes reflect British Airways’ commitment to expanding its presence in key European markets and responding to passenger interest in culturally rich destinations. The airline continues to evolve its short-haul offerings to serve both leisure and business travellers while deepening its integration within the International Airlines Group (IAG) network. With these additions, British Airways further strengthens its position as a leading carrier for UK-based passengers seeking new and diverse travel options across the continent.
