Brno Airport Experiences Busy Summer with Surge in Passenger Numbers
Brno, 10th August 2023 – LETIŠTĚ BRNO a.s. is moving into the second half of the summer season and it is already clear that it will be a successful one. In the first seven months of the year, Brno Airport handled over 350,000 passengers and, in doing so, surpassed the pre-Covid year of 2019, when the airport handled approximately 60,000 fewer.
“The current figures demonstrate that there is clear interest in flying from Brno. In July alone we handled nearly 160,000 passengers. This figure is even more remarkable when you compare it to the previous July, when 101,000 passengers were handled at Tuřany,” commented Radek Lang, Head of Transport Operations at LETIŠTĚ BRNO a.s. June of this year was another busy month, when the number of passengers handled was in excess of 111,000, a 58% increase on 2022.
It is not just the number of passengers at Brno Airport that is rising, the range of destinations has also expanded. There are now 29 possible destinations from Brno, 4 of which are completely new additions. Specifically, those are Madeira, Tivat in Montenegro, Tirana in Albania, and Volos in Greece. The airport’s most popular destinations traditionally include the United Kingdom – the regular route to London has been used by 50,000 passengers this year already, along with Marsa Alam and Hurghada in Egypt, Antalya in Turkey, and Burgas in Bulgaria.
