Bryan Batista Named New CEO of Skyscanner

Skyscanner has appointed Bryan Batista, its current chief operating officer, as chief executive officer effective June 1, succeeding outgoing CEO John Mangelaars. The leadership transition marks a significant step in the company’s next phase of global expansion and product innovation.
Batista joined Skyscanner in January 2024 as COO, bringing extensive travel and tech experience from senior leadership roles at Tesla and Booking.com. He previously served as CEO of Rentalcars.com and senior vice president of Booking Holdings’ trips business unit. In his new role, Batista will focus on accelerating Skyscanner’s mission to become the world’s leading travel companion, adding new products and expanding into more markets.
“Stepping into this role is a dream,” Batista said. “We built Skyscanner because we are travel geeks at heart. Since joining, I’ve had the privilege of working with our teams and travel partners. I’m excited we’re now expanding into rail and package travel—offering even more value and convenience to travelers. We aim to make planning part of the adventure, not the admin.”
Under Batista’s leadership, Skyscanner plans to enhance its offerings by integrating smarter tools, broader travel categories, and tailored deals, reinforcing its role as a comprehensive travel platform for users worldwide.
Mangelaars, who took over as CEO in January 2021 after leading Travix International, announced his decision to step down after over four years at the helm. He said the company is well-positioned for future success and expressed full confidence in Batista’s leadership to guide Skyscanner through its next stage of ambitious growth.
