Buraq Air Enhances Fleet with Inaugural A320 Delivery
In a significant development for Libyan aviation, Buraq Air (UZ), based in Tripoli Mitiga, has welcomed its first Airbus A320-200, marked by the arrival of 5A-BAA (msn 5393) on October 6, 2023. The aircraft, boasting a 10.9-year history, was ferried from Istanbul Atatürk to its new home in Tripoli Mitiga.
Flight data from Flightradar24 ADS-B reveals that the A320 underwent pre-delivery maintenance at Nottingham East Midlands before being transported to Turkey on September 21. Subsequently, the aircraft was re-registered in Libya in anticipation of its official handover to Buraq Air. Although the carrier has not disclosed a specific timeline for the A320’s entry into revenue service, it has expressed aspirations to position itself as Libya’s premier airline with its “new” fleet.
At present, Buraq Air’s fleet comprises one B737-400 and one B737-800, as indicated by the ch-aviation fleets advanced module. The addition of the A320 underscores the airline’s commitment to modernizing and expanding its operations in the Libyan aviation landscape.
