Boeing and CAE have signed an agreement in which CAE will become a Boeing Authorised Training Provider. It will also be the first to offer Boeing’s Competency-Based Training (CBTA) curriculum.

The shift to CBTA methodology in pilot training focuses on developing and evaluating skills, knowledge and behaviours essential for pilots to operate safely and efficiently. The first CAE locations to adopt this curriculum will be in India, where CAE will focus on the 737 MAXs and 777 aircraft. Expansion to additional global markets will soon follow.

Boeing is currently implementing the CBTA curriculum through its global training campuses in Seattle, Miami, London-Gatwick, Shanghai and Singapore.

As to why India was chosen, Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Global Services, said: “India is a very important market to us – it’s a growing market, so it’s the perfect place to start. It’s also somewhere we’re looking to scale in the future.”

CAE currently operates three training centres: two in Delhi and one in Bangalore. The simulators in these centres are ones that Boeing and CAE will use to deploy the CBTA. Training will be deployed later this year.

Marc Parent, CAE’s President and CEO, said: “This agreement ensures more pilots worldwide are ready for the moments that matter.”

“CAE will leverage its expertise and global network to expand access to high-quality training on Boeing commercial aircraft and give pilots the skills and knowledge they need for peak performance,” Parent added.
