Cambodia, Thailand Limit Border Airspace Amid Ongoing Clashes

Cambodia has restricted access to the northwestern part of its airspace due to ongoing border clashes with Thailand. The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation issued a NOTAM (A0092/25), closing the affected airspace to all commercial traffic effective July 25, 2025. Flights previously routed through this area must now divert southward.
The closure does not impact any airports handling scheduled commercial services. Notably, flights to and from Siem Reap New Angkor International Airport—the nearest major airport—remain unaffected.
On the Thai side of the border, authorities have implemented partial airspace restrictions in two regions. One area remains open to high-altitude flights, while the other is accessible to low-altitude operations. These limitations do not affect any commercial airports, and scheduled flights between Cambodia and Thailand continue to operate normally.
The airspace closures follow increased military tensions along the border, although both nations agreed to a ceasefire on July 28. Despite the truce, the NOTAMs from both sides remain active, suggesting ongoing caution.
The situation highlights the fragile nature of security in the region and the potential for temporary disruptions in air traffic. Aviation authorities are closely monitoring the developments and are expected to adjust restrictions based on evolving conditions.
For now, air travel between Cambodia and Thailand continues with minimal disruption, but rerouting measures are in place to ensure passenger safety and compliance with current airspace regulations. Travelers are advised to stay informed about any potential flight path changes.
