Canada’s OWG launches international operations
OWG (Montréal Trudeau) commenced international operations to the Caribbean, its core business, on December 18, 2020. The virtual carrier, a division of Canadian domestic cargo and passenger specialist Nolinor Aviation (N5, Montréal Trudeau), operated its first international flight on behalf of the Hola Sun Holidays tour operator from Toronto Pearson to Santa Clara de Cuba on Cuba using one of its two active B737-400s, C-GGWX (msn 24804). OWG currently plies the route weekly, according to Flightradar24 ADS-B data. OWG predominantly uses the two Boeing narrowbodies, of which the second was inducted in mid-December, for domestic charters within Canada. While it eventually plans to focus on services from Canada to leisure destinations in Central America and the Caribbean, existing travel restrictions have limited demand for such flights. The start-up initially hoped to launch services to Cuba on November 1, 2020. Its domestic charters began on October 20.
