Capital A Considers IPO for Philippines AirAsia Following Stake Acquisition
Capital A, the Malaysian aviation company, is revisiting plans to take Philippines AirAsia public after completing the purchase of a 60% stake from Michael and Shiela Romero earlier this year. Although an initial public offering (IPO) was initially deferred due to market volatility, Capital A is now exploring financing options, including a potential “near term” IPO for Philippines AirAsia.
Capital A, which acquired the Romero’s shareholding in June, has ambitious plans to invest USD1 billion in expanding the low-cost carrier, including doubling its 25-strong A320-200 fleet and adding A330 widebodies. The airline serves 26 destinations across nine countries.
