Carnival Corporation & plc, a global leader in the cruise industry, has unveiled significant leadership changes across its major cruise lines, including Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, and Seabourn. These strategic appointments are set to strengthen Carnival’s commitment to delivering exceptional travel experiences and driving post-pandemic recovery efforts.

John Padgett, the current President of Princess Cruises, will be stepping down from his role in February 2025. His departure marks the end of a notable tenure during which Princess Cruises navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and emerged stronger. Taking over Padgett’s position is Gus Antorcha, the current President of Holland America Line. Antorcha will assume his new role on December 2, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record in leading successful recovery initiatives.

Gus Antorcha has been at the helm of Holland America Line since 2020, guiding the cruise line through a critical period of recovery and growth. Under his leadership, Holland America Line successfully revitalized its operations, enhancing guest experiences and expanding its fleet. Antorcha expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I have tremendous respect for the fantastic Princess onboard and shoreside teams and their dedication to creating memorable travel experiences. It’s a privilege to lead this remarkable brand. I look forward to working with the talented team and their travel partners, and to continue delivering the distinctly effortless, personalized Princess MedallionClass vacation experience that has made Princess so popular.”

In response to Antorcha’s promotion, Beth Bodensteiner, currently the Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for Holland America Line, will step into the role of President. Bodensteiner brings two decades of experience within Holland America Line, having served in various capacities over the past six years. Her extensive knowledge of the company and the cruise industry positions her well to lead Holland America Line into its next phase of growth. Bodensteiner commented, “After advocating for this amazing company for 20 years, I could not be prouder to take on the role of president. This is a tremendous opportunity to work together with my trusted leadership team to continue building on our rich history of helping millions of guests explore the world with expertly crafted itineraries, extraordinary service, and genuine connections to each destination.”

Beth Bodensteiner will also oversee Seabourn, Carnival’s luxury cruise line. Mark Tamis will replace Natalya Leahy as President of Seabourn. Tamis brings over three decades of experience in the hospitality and cruising sectors, having worked with prestigious organizations such as Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival Cruise Line. His extensive background in creating premium vacation experiences aligns perfectly with Seabourn’s reputation for luxury and excellence.

Mark Tamis shared his excitement about his new role, saying, “The most rewarding work in my career has been my time in cruise. Combining that with my passion for creating the best vacation experiences in the world is a dream come true. I look forward to joining our team members, guests, and travel advisors in building on what makes Seabourn special.”

All newly appointed leaders will report directly to Josh Weinstein, CEO of Carnival Corporation & plc. Weinstein emphasized the importance of these leadership changes in driving Carnival’s strategic vision. “These leaders bring a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our brands. Their dedication and expertise are invaluable as we continue to innovate and provide unparalleled cruise experiences to our guests worldwide,” Weinstein stated.

Carnival Corporation’s latest leadership appointments reflect its ongoing strategy to enhance operational excellence and guest satisfaction across its diverse portfolio of cruise lines. By leveraging the strengths and expertise of its new leaders, Carnival aims to maintain its position as a top player in the global cruise industry, offering a wide range of destinations and unforgettable travel experiences to millions of passengers each year.

These changes come at a pivotal time as the cruise industry continues to rebound from the impacts of the pandemic. With seasoned leaders at the helm, Carnival Corporation is well-positioned to navigate the evolving travel landscape, meet the growing demands of travelers, and set new standards in the luxury and mainstream cruise markets.
