Carnival Cruise Line Honors First Responders in Baltimore
Carnival Cruise Line held a special event aboard the Carnival Pride on Sunday to honor the first responders who played a crucial role during the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. This celebration coincided with the cruise line’s 20th anniversary of sailing from Baltimore, marking two decades of service from this vibrant American port.
The event was attended by Maryland’s Lieutenant Governor, Aruna Miller, Maryland Transportation Secretary, Paul Wiedefeld, Baltimore Deputy Mayor, J.D. Merrill, Executive Director of the Maryland Port Administration, Jonathan Daniels, and representatives from the U.S. Naval Academy. Carnival’s President, Christine Duffy, expressed gratitude to the local leaders for their ongoing partnership and highlighted the bravery of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police who responded heroically to the tragic bridge incident.
“As America’s cruise line, Carnival launched the first year-round cruise program from Baltimore with Carnival Pride, so it’s fitting that we are here today aboard Carnival Pride, showing the immense pride we have in providing great cruise vacations from this great American city,” Duffy stated during the event. She emphasized the significant impact Carnival has on the local economy, noting that the cruise line proudly transports 100,000 passengers from Baltimore annually, contributing millions in economic benefits to both the city and state with each departure.
Duffy further highlighted the importance of honoring the courageous individuals who worked tirelessly to save lives during the bridge collapse, showcasing Carnival’s commitment to community engagement and support. In recognition of this milestone anniversary, Carnival Cruise Line also announced a donation of $25,000 to the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation to support its Energy Security and Infrastructure Resilience program, reinforcing its dedication to local initiatives and the betterment of the community.
Carnival Pride offers an array of exciting itineraries from Baltimore, including trips to popular destinations such as the Caribbean, The Bahamas, Bermuda, Greenland, Canada, and the Panama Canal. In 2025, the ship will introduce voyages to Carnival’s newest exclusive destination in The Bahamas, Celebration Key, further enhancing the travel options available to passengers.
The partnership between Carnival Cruise Line and the Baltimore community reflects a shared commitment to safety, excellence, and support for local heroes. As Carnival continues to celebrate its two decades of service from Baltimore, it remains focused on providing exceptional cruise experiences while giving back to the communities it serves.
The event served as a reminder of the critical role first responders play in ensuring public safety and their unwavering dedication during emergencies. Carnival Cruise Line’s recognition of these local heroes underscores the cruise line’s commitment to celebrating and honoring those who protect and serve the community.
As Carnival looks forward to many more years of successful operations from Baltimore, it aims to continue its legacy of offering memorable cruise vacations while fostering strong community ties and supporting local initiatives. The honoring of first responders at this anniversary celebration exemplifies the values that Carnival Cruise Line holds dear and reinforces its position as a beloved cruise line in the hearts of travelers and locals alike.
