Carnival Cruise Line is set to enhance its new private destination, Celebration Key, located on Grand Bahama, with the addition of Starfish Lagoon, a family-centric water attraction poised to become one of the largest freshwater lagoons in the Caribbean. Scheduled to open in July next year, this new feature aims to cater to families and guests of all ages with a variety of activities and amenities.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, emphasized the family-friendly design of Starfish Lagoon, stating, “At Carnival, we carry more children than any other cruise line, so we’ve designed Starfish Lagoon specifically for family fun.” The lagoon will boast two impressive water slides, each over 350 feet long: the Flash Flamingo and the Mach III Marlin, named after the national bird and fish of The Bahamas, respectively.

For younger children, the Guppy Grotto splash pad will offer a 2-foot-deep wading pool, water toys, and a dump bucket, along with shaded seating areas for parents. Additional features of Starfish Lagoon include a pavilion with table games like foosball and ping pong, sports courts for volleyball, basketball, and pickleball, and a swim-up bar. Guests can also enjoy 12 rentable floating cabanas known as AquaBanas, hammocks, cabanas, daybeds, a beach with kayak and paddleboard rentals, and an array of dining options, including Bahamian food trucks.

Duffy adds, “Toddlers, teens, and adults alike will find their own piece of paradise, whether it be racing down one of the waterslides, playing a round of pickleball, or relaxing on our floating AquaBanas.”

Starfish Lagoon is set to be one of five areas within Celebration Key, alongside a welcome area, an adult-friendly lagoon, a shopping village, and an adults-only private retreat. With over 500 itineraries planned across 18 Carnival ships, Celebration Key aims to be a major highlight for Carnival guests seeking a unique and enjoyable escape in the Caribbean.
