Carnival Cruise Line Unveils Exciting Features of Celebration Key: Paradise Plaza and Calypso Lagoon
Carnival Cruise Line has shared exciting details about two of the five themed areas, or “portals,” at its upcoming Celebration Key destination in Grand Bahama, set to welcome visitors in July 2025. The revelation of Paradise Plaza and Calypso Lagoon offers a glimpse into the innovative and immersive experiences Carnival has designed for its passengers.
Paradise Plaza, envisioned as the vibrant heart of Celebration Key, promises to enchant guests with its colorful promenade, a striking sun-shaped arch, and the towering Suncastle standing 10 stories high. This area aims to captivate visitors with its blend of whimsical architecture and local Bahamian flair, featuring a themed fountain, an ice cream shop, and comprehensive wayfinding and destination information to guide guests through their adventure. “When guests see our Suncastle as they arrive at Celebration Key, they’ll know immediately they’re in for big FUN,” stated Carnival President Christine Duffy, emphasizing the plaza’s role in setting the tone for a memorable visit.
Calypso Lagoon caters to adults seeking a blend of relaxation and activity. This lagoon area includes a sports court, a freshwater swimming area, and an abundance of loungers, daybeds, and cabanas for ultimate relaxation. The highlight of Calypso Lagoon is a distinctive bar equipped with nearly 50 swings, allowing guests to enjoy their drinks with their feet in the water, overlooking the lagoon’s serene views. Duffy highlighted the thoughtful design of Calypso Lagoon, noting it “offers a wide variety of options to fill the day, while honoring the beauty of Grand Bahama and celebrating Bahamian culture.”
Additional amenities at Calypso Lagoon include two full-service restaurants, casual snack options, and an adults-only section featuring a swim-up bar and Bahamian food trucks, ensuring a diverse and satisfying culinary experience.
Celebration Key’s development also includes plans for three more portals — a family-friendly area, a private retreat, and a retail hub, with more details to be announced. Looking ahead, Carnival is planning a second phase for Celebration Key that will introduce even more attractions, including a waterpark, further expanding the destination’s appeal.
