Carnival Expands Australian Fleet with Two New Ships

Share

Carnival Cruise Line is set to double its presence in Australia by adding two rebranded ships, Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter, to its fleet in March 2025. These ships, formerly P&O Cruises Australia’s Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter, will join Carnival’s lineup, offering more options for travelers to enjoy cruises in Australia.

The rebranding will take place after a two-week wet dock period in March. Once completed, the Carnival Adventure will sail year-round from Sydney alongside the Carnival Splendor, while the Carnival Encounter will operate year-round from Brisbane. Additionally, the Carnival Luminosa will be stationed in Brisbane for the summer 2025 season, further bolstering Carnival’s commitment to the region.

Blend of Familiar Favorites and “Fun Ship” Experiences
The rebranded ships will retain P&O dining and entertainment staples, such as the Byron Beach Club and Luke’s Bar & Grill, while incorporating Carnival’s signature “Fun Ship” experiences. Guests can look forward to Carnival’s Fun Squad, which will organize games and activities for all ages, and the Turtles Kids Club, catering to children under two. Other highlights include free daily pizza and themed events like 80s Rock and Glow nights, ensuring fun for the entire family.

Commitment to Australian Cruising
This expansion follows the announcement in June 2024 that P&O Cruises Australia would shut down operations in March 2025. Carnival Cruise Line, part of Carnival Corporation & plc, absorbed P&O Cruises Australia, bringing its ships under the Carnival banner to maintain and expand cruising opportunities in the region.

Kara Glamore, VP of Sales and Marketing for Carnival Cruise Line, emphasized the brand’s dedication to Australian cruising: “Carnival Cruise Line remains the only cruise line globally to demonstrate this level of commitment to Australia, sailing year-round and supporting thousands of local jobs while delivering unforgettable holiday experiences in Australia and the South Pacific.”

Booking and Transition Details
Travelers can still book cruises aboard the Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter on the P&O Cruises website ahead of their rebranding. After March 2025, these ships will operate fully as Carnival vessels, offering travelers Carnival’s unique blend of excitement, entertainment, and hospitality.

This move solidifies Carnival Cruise Line’s position as a leader in Australian cruising, delivering unforgettable vacation experiences and supporting the local economy. The addition of Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter reflects the company’s long-term commitment to Australia and the South Pacific as key destinations for cruise travel.
