Carnival Jubilee Introduces “Currents”: An Immersive Underwater Adventure Zone

Carnival Cruise Line is elevating the onboard experience with the debut of “Currents,” an innovative underwater-themed zone aboard the new Carnival Jubilee. This distinctive feature, spanning two decks, immerses guests in a world of aquatic wonder, highlighted by advanced technological enhancements and interactive elements. The Carnival Jubilee, which set sail from Galveston, Texas, in December, showcases “Currents” as a centerpiece of its guest entertainment offerings.

“Currents” offers a variety of immersive experiences, including “Seaquest: A Fun Sub Adventure.” This unique attraction simulates a journey through the ocean depths aboard a submersible, using six large LED portals and a 100-foot-long LED ceiling complemented by an orchestrated array of music, lighting, and sound effects. Guests will be transported to fantastical underwater realms, encountering vibrant seascapes and mythical creatures along the way.

Glenn Aprile, Carnival’s senior director of brand experience and product development, describes “Seaquest” as a groundbreaking experience that blends imagination with reality, taking guests on an extraordinary voyage through diverse underwater environments. These include the Carnival Seacation resort, a neon-lit grotto, a school of giant jellyfish, cosmic whale sharks, and the kingdom of The Golden Mermaid.

Beyond “Seaquest,” the “Currents” zone allows guests to explore six different underwater worlds, each transforming the space with unique visual and auditory elements inspired by natural marine environments, from bustling coral reefs to icy polar waters inhabited by penguins.

Children have the opportunity to unleash their creativity by designing their own sea creatures, which come to life on the screens, swimming alongside real and mythical ocean inhabitants. Additionally, “Currents” features a music-activated visualizer that animates guest-selected songs, adding a personalized touch to the underwater ambiance.

In a nod to the broader Carnival fleet and maritime exploration, the zone displays the real-time locations of all Carnival ships, alongside engaging oceanic and geographical trivia. At night, venues such as Dr.Inks, Ph.D and Emeril’s Bistro 717 transform, with the screens displaying thematic visuals that enhance the dining and drinking experience with an ever-changing backdrop.
