Carnival Cruise Line’s latest addition, Carnival Jubilee, has made a grand arrival at its new homeport in Galveston, Texas. The vessel’s docking at Galveston Wharves marks a significant milestone as it is the first time a cruise ship has debuted in this bustling coastal city on the Gulf of Mexico.
The Houston Chronicle reports that the arrival of Carnival Jubilee drew hundreds of enthusiastic onlookers eager to witness this historic moment. Roger Rees, the CEO and port director for Galveston Wharves, expressed excitement about the event, noting Galveston’s status as the fourth-largest cruise port in the U.S. and the vibrant energy of the local community.
Carnival Jubilee is set to embark on its inaugural voyage this Saturday, offering a 7-day cruise that will take passengers to various destinations in Mexico and Honduras before returning to Galveston. The vessel boasts a capacity of up to 6,631 guests and is expected to sail near its maximum capacity on its maiden journey.
In a special tribute to its Texas homeport, Carnival Jubilee features a Texas star on its bow, symbolizing the cruise line’s deep connection with Galveston. This gesture underscores Carnival’s commitment to the city and state, where it has been a leading cruise operator for the past 23 years. Carnival Breeze and Carnival Dream are other ships in the line that stop in Galveston, and Carnival Miracle is slated to join them next year. Christine Duffy, Carnival’s president, highlighted the Texas star as a symbol of gratitude to the line’s Texas guests and its dedication to future cruising ventures from Galveston.
Carnival Jubilee, the 26th ship in Carnival’s fleet, was constructed by Meyer Werft in Bremerhaven, Germany, and recently completed its transatlantic journey. Along with this exciting launch, Carnival also announced new onboard kids’ programming, featuring Dr. Seuss-themed activities and more, further enhancing the family-friendly experience.
The arrival of Carnival Jubilee in Galveston signifies a new chapter for Carnival Cruise Line, as it continues to expand its offerings and strengthen its presence in key markets.
