Carnival Cruise Line has resumed guest operations from Charleston, S.C., with Carnival Sunshine.

The Carnival Sunshine team greeted the first guests on board with a special welcome. The ship departed Jan. 13 on a four-day cruise to Nassau, Bahamas.

“We have been sailing from Charleston for 12 years, so we are excited to be back offering guests from all over the southeastern U.S. the opportunity to cruise from this beautiful, historic and charming community, all while providing support to the local economy,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

Carnival Sunshine is sailing year-round from Charleston, offering a variety of cruises to The Bahamas and the Caribbean.

Carnival now has 19 ships operating, and its remaining three U.S.-based ships are scheduled to resume in March.

Carnival continues to follow public health protocols. Passengers must be vaccinated and must show proof of a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours of boarding. Masks must be worn by all guests and crew in virtually all venues of the ship. All health protocols are listed here.
