Carnival Splendor Unveils New Look After Dry Dock Refurbishment
Carnival Cruise Lines’ Carnival Splendor has reemerged from dry dock with a striking new appearance following a significant makeover in Singapore. The 3,012-guest ship now sports the bold red, white, and blue hull design that Carnival first introduced in 2021. Additionally, the vessel boasts a Southern Cross constellation motif on both sides of its exterior, a tribute to the soon-to-be-retired P&O Cruises Australia brand.
The Southern Cross constellation, comprising five stars, has been a crucial navigational aid for sailors journeying to Australia, symbolizing maritime heritage and exploration.
Alongside its new exterior, Carnival Splendor has undergone several updates. Carnival Cruise Lines plans to unveil these enhancements when the ship returns to Sydney on September 9.
This refurbishment comes as part of Carnival’s broader strategy involving P&O Cruises Australia. In June, Carnival announced it would be retiring P&O Cruises Australia, with two of its ships, Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter, slated to join the Carnival Cruise Lines fleet. These vessels will be renamed Carnival Adventure and Carnival Explorer, respectively, and are scheduled to begin sailing under the Carnival banner in March. They will also feature the Southern Cross design and will receive technology and system upgrades.
Carnival has extended invitations to thousands of P&O Cruises Australia crew members, offering them opportunities to join the Carnival Cruise Lines team as the new ships transition to their new brand.
