Romania’s Carpatair (V3, Timisoara) has officially bid farewell to its last Fokker 100 aircraft, marking the conclusion of the carrier’s transition to an Airbus-centric fleet. This retirement also signifies the end of the Fokker 100’s commercial service era in Europe.

The final flight of the Fokker 100, registered as YR-FKB (msn 11369), took place on November 5, covering a route from Genoa to Palermo before returning to Carpatair’s base in Timisoara. Subsequently, the twinjet was ferried to Woensdrecht on November 29 in preparation for redelivery to an undisclosed new operator.

Carpatair had earlier retired its penultimate Fokker 100, YR-FZA (msn 11395), in September 2023. The airline has now completed its transition to an Airbus fleet, currently featuring two A319-100s.

The Fokker 100, once a stalwart in Carpatair’s operations, has given way to modern Airbus aircraft. The shift aligns with the airline’s strategic goals and positions it for enhanced operational efficiency.

Notably, the Slovak Government Flying Service (SSG, Bratislava) remains the sole European operator of the Fokker 100, with two units in its fleet. Globally, Australia’s Alliance Airlines (QQ, Brisbane International) operates the largest share of Fokker 100s, with 24 aircraft, followed by Network Aviation (NWK, Perth International) with 18 aircraft, according to data from the ch-aviation fleets advanced module. Carpatair’s move reflects broader industry trends toward modernization and consolidation within the aviation sector.
