Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, a prestigious 7,000-acre golf and vacation resort in the Dominican Republic, celebrated its 50th anniversary with a series of significant upgrades and a strong focus on maintaining its status as a premier upscale destination. Originally established as an executive retreat for Gulf+Western employees, the resort has evolved into a globally recognized haven for affluent travelers and golf enthusiasts.

In a recent interview with AGENTatHOME, Jason Kycek, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Casa de Campo (CDC), discussed the resort’s evolution, challenges, and the strategic moves that have shaped its current success. Over the years, CDC has navigated the ups and downs typical of historic properties, particularly with the rise of all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico. This shift prompted CDC to refine its offerings to stay competitive without losing its unique appeal to a high-end market.

Since Kycek joined the team in 2017, his primary focus was on revitalizing the resort’s financial health and enhancing its appeal. These efforts have led to impressive results: an 86 percent increase in revenue, a 41 percent rise in the average daily rate, occupancy rates soaring to 75 percent, and a remarkable 130 percent boost in revenue per available room. Additionally, the iconic Teeth of the Dog golf course, designed by Pete Dye and considered the top course in the Caribbean, saw rounds increase from 40,000 to 90,000, reflecting the successful revitalization of the golf business.

CDC’s commitment to excellence extends beyond financial metrics. The resort has heavily invested in relationships with travel advisors, recognizing their crucial role in attracting and retaining luxury travelers. This includes active participation in luxury consortia, hosting familiarization trips, and establishing a Travel Advisor Board of Directors to foster collaboration and feedback.

The resort’s recent enhancements have significantly transformed the guest experience, making it almost unrecognizable compared to five years ago. New additions include the Minitas Beach Club, an adults-only pool and deck, a family-friendly pool with a food truck area, luxurious Premier Suites and Premier Club, a state-of-the-art Spa & Wellness Center, and comprehensive upgrades to the golf courses, shooting center, equestrian center, and tennis/racquet center, which now includes facilities for emerging sports like pickleball and padel tennis.

Celebrating over five decades of luxury and excellence, Casa de Campo is poised for continued success and innovation. As Kycek aptly noted, while the resort has achieved much, it is still “just scratching the surface” of its potential, ensuring that its best days are indeed still ahead. This forward-looking approach promises to keep Casa de Campo at the forefront of the global luxury travel market, offering unmatched experiences to discerning travelers from around the world.
