Cathay Pacific has resumed service to Rome with the launch of seasonal summer flights from Hong Kong, marking the airline’s fourth new destination of 2025 and expanding its global network to nearly 100 destinations.

The inaugural flight, CX293, departed Hong Kong International Airport at 00:47 on June 5, 2025, and arrived at Rome-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) at 06:53 local time. Operated by an Airbus A350-900 (registration B-LQG), the journey covered 5,778 miles (9,245 km) in just over 12 hours.

The new Rome route operates three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights depart Hong Kong at 00:30, arriving in Rome at 07:35, with the return flight, CX292, leaving Rome at 13:00 and landing back in Hong Kong at 06:30 the next morning. The A350-900 is configured to seat 280 passengers across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes.

“Rome has long been an important destination for Cathay Pacific,” said Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer. “We are thrilled to be back once again connecting Hong Kong with the Eternal City.”

Rome becomes Cathay Pacific’s second Italian destination alongside Milan, joining a broader European network that includes Amsterdam, Barcelona, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Madrid, Manchester, Paris, and Zurich.

In addition to Rome, Cathay will launch flights to Munich and Brussels this summer, operating nearly 100 weekly return flights to 12 European cities. Across the Cathay Group, including HK Express, passenger services are expanding to 16 global destinations in 2025, with the network reaching 100 destinations for the first time in the airline’s 79-year history.
