CDB Aviation Leases Five Airbus A321neo Jets to LATAM Airlines

CDB Aviation has signed lease agreements for five Airbus A321neo (A321-271NX) aircraft with LATAM Airlines Group, reinforcing the Latin American carrier’s narrowbody fleet modernization strategy.
The agreement was announced during the ISTAT Americas conference and further strengthens the partnership between CDB Aviation, the Irish-based subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., and LATAM. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2026.
The five new A321neo aircraft will join another A321neo already on lease to LATAM from CDB Aviation’s existing orderbook. The addition supports LATAM’s efforts to enhance capacity flexibility across its hub network while maintaining a focus on operational efficiency and environmental performance.
The Airbus A321neo is part of the A320neo family and is equipped with new-generation engines and aerodynamic improvements designed to reduce fuel burn and carbon emissions. The aircraft offers increased range and seating capacity compared with previous-generation narrowbodies, making it well suited for both high-demand domestic routes and medium-haul international services across South America and beyond.
Luís da Silva, Head of Commercial for the Americas at CDB Aviation, said the transaction reflects the lessor’s commitment to supporting LATAM’s investment in modern aircraft that enhance hub flexibility and sustainability. He noted that continued passenger demand growth in South America is creating opportunities for airlines to expand strategically with next-generation fleets.
As regional traffic continues to rebound and grow, access to fuel-efficient narrowbody aircraft is seen as critical for airlines seeking to balance capacity growth with cost discipline. The deal also underscores CDB Aviation’s expanding footprint in Latin America, a market viewed as a key growth region in global aviation.
With deliveries set for 2026, the additional A321neos are expected to play a central role in LATAM’s ongoing fleet renewal and network optimization plans.
