Cebu receives the first delivery of Pfizer vaccines from COVAX

Thirty-six boxes containing around 210,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines allocated for Central Visayas were received at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) via Air Hong Kong cargo flight on June 10, 2021. The second shipment of 36 boxes were part of the 2.2 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX facility. Cebu is among the priority areas of the Philippine government’s COVID-19 vaccination rollout.

70% of GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation’s (GMCAC) Employees Received First Dose of Covid-19 Vaccines

137 or 70% of the 196 employees of GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines.  The operator of Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) worked closely with the local government to ensure employees got their jabs.  “Cebu Airport is one of the major gateways in the Philippines and the airport staff are the frontline workers who ensure health and safety protocols are strictly enforced, thus, it is imperative that they get the necessary protection and in doing so, passengers are also protected,” said Mr. Louie Ferrer, President of GMCAC.
