Celebrity Cancels 2026 Solstice Cruises to Asia

In an unexpected announcement that has left travel enthusiasts reeling, Celebrity Cruises has canceled two scheduled 2026 sailings aboard the Celebrity Solstice. The cancellations, set for January 15 and January 27, 2026, were prompted by a change in the ship’s drydock schedule, which has resulted in an extended maintenance period.
According to a statement from Celebrity Cruises, the Solstice now requires additional servicing beyond the planned repairs and maintenance. “We have discovered that Celebrity Solstice requires additional servicing beyond planned repairs and maintenance, which extends her currently scheduled drydock period. To ensure that we meet our high standards, and due to the availability at the shipyard, we must advance the drydock schedule. We understand this is not an ideal situation, and we apologize for the impact this has on your plans,” the company explained.
Originally, the Solstice was set to sail to Southeast Asia, with itineraries that included exciting stops at renowned ports such as Singapore and Hong Kong. This route was eagerly anticipated by guests looking to explore Asia’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant cityscapes. With the cancellation, many travelers are now facing uncertainty about their upcoming vacations.
Celebrity Cruises is proactively addressing the situation by offering three different options to those who had booked the affected sailings. First, guests have the option to request a full refund, which covers both the cruise fare and any prepaid amenities. Alternatively, passengers can opt to rebook for a later Southeast Asia sailing later in the year, ensuring they still have the opportunity to explore the much-anticipated region. For those who choose to rebook, Celebrity is taking additional steps to protect the original stateroom category pricing. Guests will either enjoy the same rate as originally booked or benefit from a reduced rate if current fares are lower.
In addition to these measures, Celebrity Cruises is providing onboard credit as a gesture of goodwill. Passengers booking rebooked sailings will receive onboard credit of $200 per stateroom for Aqua Class cabins and below, or $400 per stateroom for suites. To further ease the transition, the company is also waiving all non-refundable deposit change fees, allowing guests to modify their travel plans without incurring extra costs.
This cancellation comes at a time when Celebrity Cruises is expanding its portfolio. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to introduce river cruises, marking an exciting new chapter in their offerings. While the cancellation of the Solstice sailings is undoubtedly a setback for many travelers, the broader strategy suggests Celebrity is committed to enhancing and diversifying its cruise experiences.
For travelers, these adjustments mean a mix of challenges and new opportunities. While some guests may be disappointed by the sudden schedule change, the flexible options provided by Celebrity Cruises are designed to minimize disruption and ensure a seamless transition. The company’s prompt response and transparent communication aim to reassure customers that their satisfaction remains a top priority, even in the face of unforeseen challenges.
As the situation evolves, travel experts recommend that customers closely monitor communications from Celebrity Cruises and consider the rebooking options available. With plans for additional sailings to Southeast Asia and the launch of river cruises, the future still holds promising adventures for those eager to explore the world by sea.
