Celebrity Cruises Takes Delivery of Celebrity Xcel, Reveals Celebrity Xcite

Celebrity Cruises has officially taken delivery of its newest ship, Celebrity Xcel, at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, marking a major milestone for the brand’s award-winning Edge Series. The cruise line also announced the name of its next Edge-class vessel — Celebrity Xcite — with a ceremonial steel cutting that signals the start of construction.
Celebrity Xcel will debut in November 2025, featuring seven new spaces and enhanced design elements that elevate the Edge Series experience. The ship will sail from Fort Lauderdale on seven-night itineraries to The Bahamas, Mexico, Cayman Islands, Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. In summer 2026, the vessel will reposition to Europe, offering seven- to 11-night Mediterranean voyages from Barcelona and Athens, including all-new overnight stays in Madeira, Portugal.
Set to launch in 2028, Celebrity Xcite will become the sixth Edge Series ship and continue the brand’s focus on next-generation design, innovation, and destination immersion.
“Celebrity Xcel represents the next bold step in transforming the way the world experiences premium travel,” said Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group. “With Celebrity Xcel joining the fleet and Celebrity Xcite on the horizon, we’re setting new standards for excellence and innovation alongside our trusted partners at Chantiers de l’Atlantique.”
Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises, added, “Celebrity Xcel has been designed with our guests as our north star. Through the Xcel Dream Makers program, we included them in the design process to ensure every detail feels personal and inspired. We can’t wait to welcome guests aboard next month and bring this vision to life.”
Chantiers de l’Atlantique General Manager Laurent Castaing praised the collaboration: “The Edge Series reflects our shared commitment to creativity, craftsmanship, and technological excellence. Celebrity Xcel and Celebrity Xcite showcase the best of what’s possible at sea.”
