Celebrity Cruises Will Add Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at Coco Cay to Itineraries
It’s not often that cruise lines share their private islands, but Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises are doing just that.
Celebrity has just announced that for the first time ever, it will be taking guests to Perfect Day at CocoCay. For those not familiar, that’s Royal Caribbean’s private island. And typically, it’s been reserved for Royal ships.
The island includes a long list of amenities and entertainment including North America’s tallest waterslide, a hot air ballon ride, and the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean.
“Our customers are consistently asking for more opportunities to visit this stunning region year-round, have more weekend options so they can getaway easier, and have expressed a desire for a private island destination,” Laura Hodges Bethge, president of Celebrity Cruises, said according to CruiseHive.
”By introducing this new program, we can meet this demand and offer something new and historic to all our guests. Perfect Day is a destination like no other, and we are honored to add it to our portfolio,” Hodges Bethge added.
Stops at the popular island will be offered on itineraries for two Celebrity ships—the Celebrity Beyond and the Celebrity Reflection. The new offering will be available from April through November of next year. The two ships are slated to start visiting the island after Royal Caribbean completes an expansion project that will increase the capacity of CocoCay from about 11,000 guests to 13,000, TravelWeekly reported. Royal Caribbean’s expansion effort includes Hideaway Beach, which will be an adults-only area.
Some of the Celebrity cruise itineraries that will feature CocoCay visits include its three-night Bahamas cruises, as well as three-night Key West cruises, according to the Celebrity website. There will also be a three-night cruise focused just on visiting CocoCay alone.
Additional amenities at CocoCay include numerous beaches and the luxe Coco Beach Club, an exclusive hideaway featuring private overwater cabanas, an infinity pool that overlooks the ocean and upscale dining.
