Celestyal Journey Kicks Off Arabian Gulf Season
Celestyal’s flagship ship, Celestyal Journey, arrived in Doha, Qatar, on November 30, 2024, marking the start of the line’s first-ever Arabian Gulf season. This exciting season kicks off with two specially themed Formula 1 (F1) voyages, taking guests to the Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix events.
To celebrate this milestone, Celestyal hosted a special event in partnership with Visit Qatar, Qatar Tourism, and Mwani Port Authority. On November 30, local dignitaries, media, and influencers were invited aboard Celestyal Journey for a series of presentations, a ship tour, a plaque exchange ceremony, and a celebratory lunch, all while the ship was docked in port.
Following the F1-themed voyages, Celestyal Journey will embark on seven-night “Desert Days” itineraries, running roundtrip from Doha through March 2025. These cruises will visit iconic destinations such as Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai Marina, with an overnight stay in Dubai. Guests will also explore hidden gems like Khasab and Sir Bani Yas Island.
Celestyal Journey will continue sailing from Doha for the next three winter seasons as part of a collaboration between Celestyal and Visit Qatar. The ship features 630 suites and staterooms, seven restaurants, eight bars and lounges, two pools, Jacuzzis, and a wellness deck with a spa, fitness areas, and wellness facilities. In September 2023, Celestyal Journey underwent a multi-million Euro refurbishment before joining the fleet. Additional updates were made while en route to Doha, including new Junior Dream Suite bathrooms and the introduction of Café Nation, a popular coffee bar found on Celestyal Discovery.
Lee Haslett, Chief Commercial Officer at Celestyal, expressed excitement about the Arabian Gulf season’s launch. “We’re confident our special F1-themed cruises will start the season with a bang, while our Desert Days itineraries will offer the best of the region,” he said. “Whether travelers are returning to these destinations or visiting for the first time, there’s something authentic for everyone.”
At the end of 2025, Celestyal Discovery will join Celestyal Journey in the Arabian Gulf. It will offer three-night long weekend “Iconic Arabia” cruises and four-night midweek cruises, both roundtrip from Abu Dhabi, making it easier for travelers to explore the region.
Chris Theophilides, CEO of Celestyal, reflected on the significance of the arrival in Doha. “This marks the start of Celestyal’s next chapter, with a refreshed fleet and year-round operations in two regions. With new itineraries like Desert Days and Iconic Arabia, we’re expanding the reasons for travelers to choose Celestyal,” he said.
The Desert Days itinerary starts at $409 per person, offering a 67% saving, while Iconic Arabia cruises start at $279 per person, representing a 57% discount. These deals are available through Celestyal’s Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, which runs until December 3, 2024.
