McCauley Propeller Systems, the provider of the Cessna SkyCourier’s propellers, has been awarded Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification for its new McCauley C779 propellers, which were specifically designed to enhance the performance of the aircraft.

McCauley is a Textron Aviation company and one of the world’s largest manufacturers of propellers. More than 350,000 aircraft and their owners rely on McCauley propellers to support their mission.

“The development of the McCauley C779 propeller was a collaborative effort between McCauley and Textron Aviation engineers. The propeller has been optimised for the SkyCourier aircraft and engine design with careful attention to durability and low maintenance costs,” said Kriya Shortt, senior vice president, Parts and Programs at Textron Aviation. “We are committed providing our customers with increased product service life and with the use of DuraTherm de-ice boots we have been able to do so through improved impact resistance.”

To achieve P123 certification, the new McCauley propellers underwent 135 hours of endurance and functional tests to earn certification, including a blade retention system test at twice the maximum centrifugal load of the propeller during operation. Textron Aviation is installing the C779 propellers as standard equipment on the SkyCourier.
