Chicago hoteliers, workers reach agreement on ordinance

A Chicago City Council committee has approved a “Right to Return to Work” ordinance for hotel employees after their union and the industry hammered out a compromise over seniority rules and other provisions. Given the dire need for staff as lodging recovers from the pandemic, laid-off workers may not need the new protections, Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association president Michael Jacobson observed.
