China Airlines to Launch Taipei–Phoenix Route in December

China Airlines will become the first Asian carrier to launch direct flights to Phoenix, Arizona, as part of its continued North American expansion. The new service, announced on July 25, 2025, will commence on December 3, 2025, connecting Taipei with Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport three times a week using Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
Flights will depart Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) as CI036 every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 10:55 a.m. local time, arriving in Phoenix at 8:00 a.m. the same day. The return flight, CI035, will leave Phoenix at 11:55 a.m., stop in Los Angeles at 12:20 p.m., and then continue to Taipei, arriving at 9:30 p.m. local time the following day.
This strategic move marks Phoenix as China Airlines’ seventh nonstop passenger destination in North America, joining an established network that includes New York, Los Angeles, Ontario, San Francisco, Seattle, and Vancouver. The airline currently operates 40 round-trip flights each week across these cities.
China Airlines emphasized Phoenix’s role as a major gateway to the American Southwest, making it a key addition to its trans-Pacific network. In June 2025, the airline signed a partnership agreement with Southwest Airlines to strengthen connectivity within the U.S. market. Through this partnership, travelers landing in Phoenix will benefit from seamless interline ticketing and access to more than 30 inland U.S. destinations, all via same-terminal connections.
The new Taipei–Phoenix route reflects China Airlines’ broader commitment to expanding long-haul service and enhancing U.S. market access for Asian travelers. It also supports growing demand for both business and leisure travel between Taiwan and the southwestern United States. In addition to launching new routes, China Airlines plans to increase frequencies on existing ones, including its New York service. By 2026, the airline will also move into The New Terminal One at JFK Airport, further strengthening its East Coast presence.
By adding Phoenix to its North American portfolio and aligning with a major domestic partner, China Airlines is strategically positioning itself to tap into expanding travel demand while offering more efficient connections for passengers throughout the U.S. and Asia. The airline’s use of the modern Airbus A350-900 on the route underscores its commitment to providing long-haul comfort, fuel efficiency, and premium service on new intercontinental links.
