Chinese airline companies are gearing up for a robust winter-spring season, with a remarkable 33.95% increase in scheduled domestic cargo and passenger flights compared to the same period in 2019-2020, as reported by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

From October 29 to March 30 next year, a total of 96,651 weekly flights are set to take off, showcasing a significant boost in aviation activities. The CAAC further disclosed plans for the introduction of 516 new domestic routes, facilitating an impressive 7,202 additional flights each week during this period.

In addition to the domestic expansion, the Chinese aviation sector is set to make waves internationally. A collaboration of 150 domestic and foreign airlines is set to roll out an extensive network of 16,680 flights per week, connecting China to 68 foreign countries.

Highlighting specific developments, He Yawei, an official at the Beijing Capital International Airport’s operations control center, shared, “For instance, we are expanding routes to key destinations such as San Francisco and Baku, and enhancing flight frequency to major hubs like Frankfurt, London, and Paris.”

Liang Nan, the Director of CAAC’s Department of Transport, emphasized the commitment to further enhance route and flight structures. He expressed the CAAC’s support for both Chinese and foreign airlines, encouraging the resumption of international flights. The goal is to foster international economic and trade cooperation while facilitating exchanges between Chinese and foreign personnel.

As the aviation landscape continues to evolve, these strategic initiatives underscore China’s determination to play a pivotal role in the global air travel resurgence during the winter-spring season.
