Choice Hotels Enhances Guest Experience with Nationwide Tesla Charging Stations
Choice Hotels International has taken a significant step forward in catering to the evolving needs of modern travelers by partnering with Tesla to offer Universal Wall Connectors for electric vehicles (EVs) at various Choice-branded hotels across the United States. This initiative, encompassing brands such as Radisson, Cambria, Comfort, Country Inn & Suites, and Quality Inn, aims to address one of the most pressing concerns for EV drivers: the availability of reliable charging stations during travel.
Under this new agreement, participating Choice properties are expected to install a minimum of four Tesla charging stations, significantly enhancing the convenience for guests traveling with electric vehicles. This move is not only about meeting the growing demand for EV charging facilities but also about positioning Choice Hotels as a forward-thinking, environmentally conscious brand that listens to its guests’ preferences.
Dominic Dragisich, Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Global Brand Officer for Choice Hotels International, emphasized the strategic nature of this partnership with Tesla. He pointed out the potential for this initiative to increase booking consideration, enhance guest satisfaction, and ultimately, drive incremental revenue for hotel owners. For Choice Hotels, the agreement is an extension of their commitment to providing value-driven solutions that support the operational and commercial goals of their hotel partners.
The importance of EV charging facilities is underscored by guest feedback, particularly from Cambria hotel guests who rank this amenity among their top three sustainability priorities. With more than 7,500 hotels in 46 countries and territories, Choice Hotels is strategically positioned to serve the increasing number of travelers seeking hotels with EV charging options. The company’s data reveals that a significant majority of its guests arrive by car, making the availability of EV charging stations a valuable addition to its offerings.
Choice Hotels’ focus on accessibility and convenience is further highlighted by the distribution of its properties. With 90% of its U.S. hotels located in key areas such as suburban, interstate, and small-town locations—many within a mile of a highway entrance—the company is ideally situated to meet the needs of road travelers, including those with electric vehicles.
The rollout of EV charging stations is already underway, with 41% of Cambria hotels equipped with such facilities. Choice Hotels aims to expand this offering, with a target to equip all Cambria hotels with at least one EV charging station by the end of 2024. Additionally, travelers can conveniently locate hotels with EV charging capabilities using the ChoiceHotels.com website and the Choice Hotels app, ensuring that planning an EV-friendly trip is easier than ever.
In a move to further incentivize the use of EV charging stations, Choice Hotels has introduced rewards for its co-brand credit card holders. Choice Privileges Select Mastercard and Choice Privileges Mastercard holders will benefit from accelerated point earnings on purchases made at hotel-installed EV charging stations, adding an extra layer of value to their stay.
This partnership between Choice Hotels and Tesla represents a meaningful advancement in the hospitality industry’s support for sustainable travel and electric vehicle adoption, making it easier and more rewarding for guests to explore the U.S. with their electric vehicles.
