Cirrus Aircraft Delivers 600th Vision Jet, Milestone in Aviation
On December 23, 2024, Cirrus Aircraft proudly announced the delivery of its 600th Vision Jet, marking a significant milestone for the company and the personal aviation industry. The Vision Jet, the world’s only FAA-certified single-engine private jet, has become a standout in the smaller jet aircraft market since its certification in October 2016.
Cirrus describes this achievement as a “defining moment” in personal aviation, highlighting the Vision Jet’s combination of advanced technology, exceptional safety features, and outstanding performance. The aircraft, which offers a sleek, lightweight design, is the best-selling jet in general aviation and has redefined the possibilities of personal flight, making jet ownership accessible to a broader range of pilots.
The Vision Jet, formerly known as the Cirrus SF50, is powered by a single Williams FJ33 turbofan engine and features a unique V-tail and retractable landing gear. Constructed entirely from composite material, the jet can accommodate up to seven passengers, including the pilot. It offers a range of up to 1,275 nautical miles (2,361 km) at a cruising speed of 311 knots (576 km/h). One of its most notable features is the Cirrus Aircraft Protection System (CAPS) ballistic parachute, which can be deployed by the pilot in case of engine failure, providing a safety net when forced landing opportunities are limited.
Initially designed for personal use, the Vision Jet soon gained FAA clearance for use by air taxi and charter operators in 2019. This shift helped open new opportunities for a wider audience to experience jet ownership and further solidified the aircraft’s role in revolutionizing personal aviation.
Zean Nielsen, CEO of Cirrus, expressed pride in delivering the 600th Vision Jet, emphasizing the company’s commitment to making aviation safer, more accessible, and more innovative. To date, Cirrus aircraft have accumulated over 16 million flight hours, and 265 individuals have survived airborne incidents thanks to the deployment of the CAPS parachute system.
With seven manufacturing and sales locations across the U.S., Cirrus continues to push the boundaries of aviation, making jet ownership and personal flight more attainable for a growing number of enthusiasts and professionals alike.
